Getting the Wheeling Fever

If i were to get a shift kit for my 93 chevy k1500 4x4. would i be able to keep it from switching gears in the first gear position..or does first gear always shift out no matter what i do? If there is a shift kit that keeps it in a single gear (1st) who offers it?
