I'm looking for an article about fliping my u-bolts on my rear axel. Any and all information is welcome. Pictures are a plus. Thanks everyone!

I must have missed something. Does 4Crawler sell u-bolt flip kits? I didn't see that. I went to Rancho and tried to find the part number refrenced but no luck. Any way the part number is for the u-bolt only. After reading 4Crawlers article I need new spring plates and other stuff. I must have missed something.

You can find the Rancho u-bolt p/n listing in the specifications page. I have made a few sets of rear spring plates and lower shock mounts (bolt-on, like pictured above, 3/8" steel plates below):

Shown below w/ the 3" ID Rancho u-bolts:

Or you can get a decent kit from Rockstomper that lets you use the stock upper shock mounts: http://rockstomper.com/catalog/suspen/rear.htm

Thanks everyone for your replys. It looks like Rockstomper may be the way to go so I can use the stock upper mounts. Thanks again!

Getting the Wheeling Fever
All-Pro Off-Road makes some real nice stuff too. If you get some weld on shock mounts for the bottom, you should be able to still use the upper stock mounts.

I was looking at my rear axle and shock. As it is now my rear shock has about 3 or so inches of rod exposed.I was thinking if I put the shock mount above the axle 3 or so inches higher than where it is now the shock would have to collapse to attach to the higher mount above the axle. Leaving me no up travel on the shock. Does this make sense to anyone. How is this overcome? Or am i not seeing it right?
