Help me out guys-I did a search but didn't find difinitive info. What are the biggest tires I can fit on the stock aluminum rims? I have an '02 Runner with SAW up front and OME HD out back.

I have a few considerations though:

1) The absolute least amount of rub. I mean, if it only touches when at full lock and bouncing hard I can live with that. Or if only slight modification will get me there that would also be ok. And by slight I mean bending out-of-sight panel seams or such, no trimming of shiny sufaces.

2) I don't want them too wide so that I end up with mushy handling from ballooned sidwalls, but I do want them a little wider than the rims so that they hit the rocks before the rim does.

I know I can get 33x9.5x15 on, but a tire this narrow makes me worry about rim damage. I'm fairly certain a 33x10.5x15 will also fit with better rim protection. I think 33x12.5x15 would be too ballooned on my 7" rims and would probably rub, so a 33x11.5x15 should be perfect right?

So does anyone out there know who makes a 33x11.5x15 besides BFG ATs? I'm hopping to find a tred pattern that is between BFG's AT and MT. The Pro Comp MT looks like it would fit the bill if it came in a 33x11.5x15.

First, this has been discussed numerous times in the past and would be a perfect candidate for a search (I am not trying to be a jerk). Also, most of the third gen owners on the board have 16" wheels. I am just getting familiar with what tire sizes are available for the 15".

I would recommend that you not go over 32" tires, but it is the width that can also cause problems. I was running 265/75R16 BFG AT's with minimal rubbing at stock height (31.8" x 10.5"). Also, there seemed to be some debate as to who was having rubbing with the 265/75's.

33x10.50 BFG ATs sound good for you. either that or 32x11.50.

I'm running 33x12.5 AT/KOs (finally!, disregard old sig) on 15x7s with 3.25 BS and a 1/4" spacer in front. They rubbed a bit but a good weekend of mashing moved whatever rubbed.

I don't have 16's, but I want to keep the stock 15's and get as much ground clearence as I can. I appreciate that you guys get tired of answering the same questions all the time (in just 2 mos. How do you guys like the ATs over the MTs more aggressive tread when off road? I would think that they loose traction before the MTs do?

A more valiant search has yeilded some results that I'm reviewing right now.

Just keep in mind that BFG doesn't make a 33x11.5 for a 15" rim. Its an odd size, think Interco might make one and I know Goodyear makes a tire not avaliable to the public in that size, but thats it.

As for a wheel spacer, I sorta thought that to begin with. But thinking about it, I've never talked face to face to a person that had problems, its always a case of "I heard that my cousin's daughter's uncle's brother's best friends great aunt's son had problems..."

I've pounded the snot out of my truck in high speed offroading and not a problem, not even a loose lugnut, I give them two thumbs up, no problem. But I understand your apprehension, they get a bad rap...

you are in the same boat as me with the 15" factory rims. VERY soon I am going to be putting on Cornfed 2.5" front spacers and 2" rear spacers. I would prefer 16x8 rims with 285's but I cant afford new rims. Because of that I picked up some used 33x10.5x15 BFG's for $300 and they only had 6000 miles on them. I should have my tires on in a week or two if you want to see pictures.

This truck has 3.5" front fabtechs and NO rear lift and 33x10.5x15 tires. I think it looks pretty good.

http://www.bridgestonetire.com/dpp/index.asp makes a 32x11.50/15 AT and MT Dueler. I hear the MT's are noisy (well I haven't personally heard...) I think the MT is only better in the mud. Here in sunny CA we don't get much rain so mud is a seldom sight. Er, well it did rain hard today. <flame suit> My opinion is that AT's are better all around. </flame suit> I'm happy with my Dueler AT's BTW. I have the 16" wheel metric 32"

I think they look great and it handles really well, but I definately need to regear very soon. They do rub a little at the rear of the front and rear wells (where the mud flaps mount). It's only been two days so I don;t know yet how much this will bug me.
