spray some lubricant on your belts just to be sure its not a belt.

My bet is a throw out bearing.... but the arguement for the thrust bearing wear is convincing.

It is almost certainly *not* the throw out bearing or pilot bearing. They should not be spinning under the conditions he is getting the squeal.

He only gets the noise with his foot off the pedal. The throwout bearing (& pilot bearing) only operate when the pedal is pushed in.

All right. I went under my truck to find out about the noise. Turns out I have been off on the location. It was under my truck, which became apparent once I was under it.

And it turns out that the little bugger making all the noise was this: [Linked Image]

Yup. The clutch release cylinder push rod/clutch release fork connection point. I sprayed lubricant on it and the noise stopped (as a test).

Now, the question I have is: should refurbish the release cylinder or buy a new one and has anyone does this before and how hard is it?

Thanks for all the replies. You guys rock.

New one doesn't cost that much. Read up on clutch maintenance via our 'toyota section' above in the header.

Is there a large difference between the Advance Adaptors slave cylinder and the Coni? The price difference is $68 to $12.

here is the URL to the coni:
