I guess that I did not word that very well. Buying a R151F will likely not cost more than an adapter AND rebuilding his current R150F, however if the turbo tranny needs to be rebuilt than all bets are off.

Really? I've got 4.88s and 33s on the 4Runner and I don't think this engine has much low end power at all. If I try to let it lug down it just stalls. I am constantly slipping the clutch in rockcrawling situations (which admittedly isn't what this vehicle was designed for).
