AFAIK this has been done twice. I have seen a First Gen Trooper w/ a TBI 4.3. Article was in a magazine.

Second was Dallas @ Stinkyfab who did this first in his Amigo 'Opel'.

I currently am working ont he swap. I purchased a '96 GMC Jimmy w/ a CSFI 4.3 for the swap.

The problem we will have is getting a passenger side drop transfer case. You can adapt to a Toyota, Dallas used a D300. I currently have a D300 on its way as we speak.

Trans is up to you. That Safari has a 4L60E in it. Im going w/ a T350 due to ease of rebuilding, pretty cheap parts, and I can build one that will put up with any of the power the 4.3 can put out with no problems. Ive had to replace two 4L60Es due to the planetarys being stripped out. Kind of weak transmission, you might not have a problem behind a 4.3 (Instead of a 5.7L) due to not pulling large loads.

Im getting the help from a guy who has swappe 3-4 4.3's into Monteros, which is pretty close to our Trooper applications.
