I agree sparying water into the AFM/MAF is a bad idea. However, sucking down 8oz of Water through a vacuum hose (just like seafoam) the car runs better than if I seafoamed it. I actually tried sea foam a couple weaks ago.... didn't really do anything. the water seemed to give me night/day results. the water injection systems actually increase the compression ratio, hence the power gain, and also reduce pinging by cooling the whole situation down. I'm interested in using it for occasoinal de-carboning.

Whenever he hit a long hill he would flip a switch, his system was pressurized and used two nozzles in the air cleaner.
All that happens is water doesn't compress, and it expands rapidly when it turns to live steam. It takes a very small amount and it is best if it is fogged in, because a sudden shot of a bit too much would break connecting rods or could cause thermal shock to hot parts.
The downside was guess who got to rebuild his engine every 35-50,000 miles or so? The last one I spent $3500 on just the parts, aftermarket rods, racing bearings, on and on.
That old truck still sits in the garage down at my ranch, I understand it is to be mine now. (My Mom still drives it from time to time, but she is 88 and probably should let someone else drive.)
Using a water fogger to clean out carbon is an old trick, just remember live steam does a dandy job of removing oil from cylinder walls and pistons, too. So once in awhile is probably harmless, full time use is tough on parts, part of why the factories don't simply install them as original equipment.
I never actually tested it, but Dad's water injection felt like it was worth 30 H/P to me......*EB
