I've got an '84 carbureted 22R engine. The truck stalls when cold unless I give it gas. Once it's warmed up it's fine. I thought that the choke valve was supposed to take care of this. I checked it out and it's working fine. Probably about a 1/2" gap when the engine is cold, and when I depress the gas pedal, the choke valve closes all the way. I also set the idle speed to about 700-750RPM when the truck is warmed up.

Is there something that could be causing this or is it just an old carburetor?
