Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
i have an 87 4runner 22re. this used to be a freak occurance but i seem to be noticing it more and more these last few weeks. sometimes when i start my car (dosent matter if its cold or warm out) my engine idle drops down to about 500rpms. and my shifter shakes like a mofo. after driving for a min it seems to work out the kink, but has anyone else had this problem?

Wow... 3 different problems in one thread...
To the OP: Mine has done this too, off and on for the past 8 years. Unknown cause, and unknown cure. No ill effects in the long term.
To the 1st responder: Turn your idle back down to 750. Problem solved.
To the second responder: There is no vacuum advance on a 22RE... Only the 22R had that (and the early analog-injection Celica 22RE, but that is a different animal altogether).

Turns out that there is a de-celleration pot below the throttle pully. there is a small screw with a lock nut on it. mine was loose and not engaging. a quick adjustment there and my problem solved.
