Wow... 3 different problems in one thread...

To the OP: Mine has done this too, off and on for the past 8 years. Unknown cause, and unknown cure. No ill effects in the long term.

To the 1st responder: Turn your idle back down to 750. Problem solved.

To the second responder: There is no vacuum advance on a 22RE... Only the 22R had that (and the early analog-injection Celica 22RE, but that is a different animal altogether).
