Where is a good place to get a highpinion front carrier w/locker? I would imagine the dealer would want my first born.

This junkyard claims it's an E-Locker (Front Axle).
4.10 ratio for that year. Next cheapest one is $700.
It can be re-geared though.

Hmm that looks good. Did you get that from car-part? I couldn't find any there when I looked. Anyone know if the front LC elockers came with 4.56 gearing?

4.10 was the only ratio available in the North American FZJ80.

So I've been reading up on the e-locker installation HERE and have a question.

The article says the Tacoma one won't fit into a standard 8" case. Is that confirmed?

As it says:

Tacoma TRD electric locker also uses an 8.0" ring gear and what appears to be the same electric locker as Toyota used in the 4Runner. It doesn't look like this electric locker will retrofit it into the 8.4" non-TRD Tacoma axle with an open differential unless you obtain the entire TRD axle along with the locker.

The e-locker (8") won't swap into a 8.4" Tacoma rear axle (non-TRD) or carrier. I think all the e-lockers will fit into any of the 8" axles (front or rear) with the proper mods.

Is this what you are referring to?

The locker I bought was meant for an 8.0" Toyota axle. Erik Bibelheimer recently posted in the 4x4wire BBS that the Tacoma TRD electric locker also uses an 8.0" ring gear and what appears to be the same electric locker as Toyota used in the 4Runner. It doesn't look like this electric locker will retrofit it into the 8.4" non-TRD Tacoma axle with an open differential unless you obtain the entire TRD axle along with the locker.

If so, basically all that its saying is the 4runner and Tacoma e-lockers are the same. They are 8" lockers and they fit in 8" housings.

The e-lockers (or any standard 8" diffs) will NOT fit into housings that use the T100/Tundra/Tacoma (aka, 8.4") type diff.

This may also help: http://home.4x4wire.com/erik/diffs#rear

*Note- the so-called 8.4" does not really measure 8.4", but thats another story!
