There's been at least a few previous posts regarding the same. What replacement seal did you use? I believe the consensus is you have better luck with geniune Isuzu seals. However, when I did this, I still experienced leaks with the OEM seal too. I really don't have any helpful advise as I was never able to completely stop the leak. Do some searching and you'll find several posts talking about this.

i used timkin or something for the seal from auto zone it was the same brand as the bearings i replaced for good mesure i like to do a prodject once and correctly, i dont have a problem doing something over its jsut that i dont have my own press and to chissle off the bearing again is not my idea of fun.. like i said i followd the service manual wich says hammer and chissle to take off bearing and the spacer .. its such a pain i couldnt get my air hammer to do any thing to it and i had to end up grinding it off with a carbide bit, and i live under the idea that it didnt leak for 145000 miles so there IS a way to do it so it doesnt leak for another 145000 ive tried the "search" here but i cant find any thing thats helping me.

yeah, your story sounds o' so familiar. I went through the same ordeal a long time ago... must have done the process like 5 times with the same tools you are... tried seal/bearing kits from Autozone, NAPA, CarQuest, Advance, etc and even the genuine Isuzu parts. Net result was I never stopped the leak, in fact, it almost dripped more than it did when I started. I ended up getting rid of the axle and never found a solution.

Unfortunately, no one is going to be able to tell you how to "fix" your problem. sounds like you're going about it right... you can roll the dice and try again.... or if you want a one time fix, this might be one of those things better left to the dealership... At least that way you can get it in writing and you can keep taking it back on their dime if the leak continues.

Was the axle damaged where the seal sits? or the "tube" where the axle slides in? We had a Problem like that at our Shop, where we had done that and didnt catch the axle being slighty damaged, kind of gouged where the seal sits and it would not seal. Like RobG was saying you could "Roll the Dice" and give it another Shot, But If it were me and I was flustered, take it to a Good shop or even if you want pay the DEALER to do it....

there wasnt any damage to the axle where the seal sits on it, i wish it was a better design so i didnt have to pull the backing plate and i could see the seal as im putting it in the tube im thinking about getting another axle/ backing plate from a junk yard so icant just slide one out and the other in and hope that it works this time, i just wish there was a better way to slide the seal in, since you cant see it as your putting every thing back together with that damn backing plate and all
