What have you got in it for a heater now Neo?

Still just a block-heater - but the cord wasn't connected right . Plugged in today at about -21C it started without serious complaint.

Fat tires, short wheel-base = A few skidding uncontrollably episodes!!

Hey guys... not quite moved over, but almost. No phone, no cable, no 'net, grabbing some unsecured network here for a moment.

Damn is it cold. Last evening I went to bring the uhaul back, and wifey was following me in the truck. Sat all day (8 in the morning till 9 last night) unplugged (couldn't find my ext cord till later), and I heard the temp was -27*c. Started first time. Won't say it didn't chug a bit for 20 seconds or so, but it did stay going. Original batteries, Rottella Synth 0W.

Brrrr....

Phil what the hell makes your pajero better starting than the rest of ours. my 2 batteries were brand new in japan right before it came over...I wish I knew what kind they were haha but they work great. I think I have an injector problem because it smokes way too much.

Do all the JDM Pajero's come with the cold start thingie. The thing that advances the injectorpump timing and gives a little throttle. Mine is busted and cost's a fortune.

Do you mean this little lever below the mirror controls? I think that's the "fast idle" lever.

Its lonely being a ba$tard...

Actually, I got a bit of a start this morning (pun intended). I went out to start my truck, and it had hit low lows overnight, windchill was -40*c, and ambient was -30*c. (Remember, no more garage for me, till I build it someday hopefully soon.) I slogged through the snow to start up the beast, and it fired right up (can you say that with a diesel?). Anyways, I took it out of first (5 speed standard), and went to leave it in N position, so I could go in the house for a few minutes... I let my foot off the clutch, there was a little tiny movement forward, and STALL. The clutch was almost frozen - there was enough friction from the cold to stall the truck. Sonova...

But I started it again and let it idle for a minute longer and I was able to take my foot off. I'll be leaving it in N on cold cold nights from now on. Shiver me timbers...

(still waiting on the cable/phone/internet company, so this message is brought to you courtesy of "Dave's Network"! )

Stay warm boys, its gonna warm up on Thurday.
Phil

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Fast idle? Gee I thought that was my cruise control. Explains why I go a lot faster down hills than up them!

Seriously though, I wonder why Phil's truck is starting that much better than everyone else's. My truck would not have started in this weather without the Espar. It had a hell of a time starting in -10 (three starts and stalls, chugging, white smoke, painful noises) before the Espar. So what is it?

Free internet rocks Phil! Shame on them for not setting up the most basic internet security. Try scanning to see if they shared out their printer too. lol Or, maybe they just don't care if someone hijacks a few web pages through their connection, I have a buddy who leaves his open on purpose.

Back on topic, I found synthetic gear oil in the tranny makes a huge difference in winter shifting and warm up. Another trick is to put the t-case in N and the tranny in 2nd gear. This gets the fluid in the tranny moving and it is ready to move in no time.
