are wheel spacers advisable to use on the rear axle btwn the drums and rims?

I've run spacers for years on my rear axle. Once I swap mine for the wider housing, I'll probably get rid of them then.

When I put the IROKS on my tires started rubbing the frame. I put 1" spacers and it all seems fine. This is on a 90 so it already has the wider housing!!!!!
