Got a friend that inspects in NY. Not legal unless wired to high beams only. Welcome to the land of taxes and liberals...

i believe theyre talking about laws regarding fob lights, anything over 55 watts is illegal unless covered in most states, personally ive never had any problems, of course ive spent most of my time in Idaho where vehicle equipment rules hardly are enforced...

Talking about covered/uncovered and legal fog lights. In NY apparently they must be wired to the highbeams, but in NJ if they are covered and not wired into the highbeams then its fine.
On another note the inspection guy gotta know what to look for, my friends truck was running with no cat and they never even noticed 3x already at NJ state inspections.

That's the dif with inspectors. In NY, if it is 95 or older, emmissions don't count. Ya just got to have the hardware installed. Does not have to work. And if the inspector does not much care, anything can pass. For ex. In Pa any rust is ng. In NY you can run a fender flapper no prob. But if the emmissions dinghy says it has a prob with the computer you are done in for at least a small bundle. Sooooo, in NY buy a 95 or older from PA. No rust, no emmissions, no prob. If ya got beamers, go to an inspector that has a brain instead of the run of the mill AH at a Goodyear shop. Stupid human tricks always win - until you get pulled over by an over righteous mountie.
Never own a new car. Should I blow up the 3.0, in goes a early 60's small block if I can find out how....

On mine I cut the Plastic out of the two openings on the lower valance beside the main opening and mounted then on the frame extentions so they are safe from harm and tucked in nicely. I'll post pics next week when I'm home.

anything over 55 watts is illegal unless covered in most states Not here <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> We're limited to 4 at a time (but tell that to the haulers running ANC to FAI on a winter night), and "aimed so as not to blind oncoming drivers" or something like that. I don't run a lower valence...or stock bumper for that matter, but I used some angle steel and made brackets (basically just cut a couple 3-4" pieces of the stuff) that I bolted to the front xmember.
