Hello guys, this site is awesome. I never knew that Montero was capable of such off roading. I recently purchased Kumho Venture HT 31x10.5R15 for 1991 Montero, and it has a OEM rims. But when I took it to a shop, they wont put the tire on because they'll rub. My question is, what kind of adjustments do I need to make to fit these on there. I look ed that the diagram from the FAQ, but can't really figure out where to make the cuts. If anyone has a picture of the cuts that they made. I would really appreciated.

I don't agree with them rubbing.. worse case you might have to crank your torsion bars a little to bring the front level with the rear.

They wont rub. It's just a lie they tell. There insurance will not allow them to sell tires that are not OEM size. Find another shop.

That is BS, go to a different shop they are stupid. But, according to the chart in 4Wheeler, you will need a 3in body lift to fit 31s.

Thanks for all your input, I was looking at the diagram. It seems like it might rub little bit on the inside, but "you will need to trim back the front bumper endcaps" where is the front bumper endcaps located? the inside or the outside?. If anything, i'll find out where the tires are rubbing and just cut the piece out.

Trimming the bumper endcaps should only apply to running 33's, not 31's. I ran 31x10.5x15 tires on stock rims for a while without any modifications at all and they never rubbed.....ever.

I've been running 33x12.5x15 tires on 15x8 rims for about a year and a half now. My bumpers weren't an issue because I swapped both front and rear bumpers out for a set of don custom bumpers. Granted, I have a 2" body lift, but the word is that even without the lift they shouldn't rub (I did my body lift and tire swap at the same time) except for on the bumper end-caps. The only thing which ever (briefly) rubbed was the splash-shields at the front of the front wheelwells. You can easily bend them a little bit forward with your hand to correct that problem.

But 31's on stock rims rubbing? Nope, they won't.

On a gen1 with leaf springs in the rear might rub the inner fender/frame on rear when flexed all the way with stock tires. You will not rub with 31s.

I had a bit of inner fender scrubbing on the rear of my 88 with 31x10.50's on stock rims if you get your self a set of after market 15x8 wagon wheels or something you'll be set and when you want to go bigger you won't need to get rims then.
