looking for the rear parking cable assembly. No one I know
carries them. And no one else makes it except for OEM.
I own a 1989, xtra cab pick up 2.6L 4x4.

I understand wanting a "cable in a kit"

I don't know what the cable looks like on the ends where it mounts up; there's probably some doo-dad clamped on that slides into a slot that you can't easily duplicate.

But if you've got both mounting ends, why not just go to home depot, get some cable and cable clamps, then tighten it down? (strip the insulation off where you clamp on). You could even throw in a turnbuckle and make it adjustable.

Then toss some paint or something on it if you're worried about rust.

It's not rocket science, it's not even automotive engineering science. It's a cable.

One of the ways in which our cables regularly fail is when water gets between the sheath and the cable itself. In that somewhat closed environment, the cable rusts and then the cable no longer moves. Similarly, water can get into the cable assembly and freeze. Similar result although temporary.

The initial failure point on these cables is often the rubber seals at the ends. Any home-built solution needs to address this issue.

This fall I replaced the cables on both my Troopers. Got them from St Charles seems like the were about $50 each .... don't quote me. I try not to keep track of how much I spend on my Troopers <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
