Getting the Wheeling Fever

'89 22RE stock pickup with a loss of power. It started one day a few weeks back and now it's a mystery. Truck runs but no power especially on hills. New air filter, good fuel pressure, tuned up...thought maybe the knock sensor.

Knocked on it, and got no response on the timing, soooo we replaced the knock sensor. But that hasn't changed a thing.

Toyota service manuals seems to recommend the ECU next...ouch! Are these specific to the year and VIN or can I get a used ECU from any year off a 22RE?

Any other ideas?
