Strange, those are riveted in on all the rigs I've worked on, no way to get it apart.

The 22r that I rebuilt last year - there were screws, rather than rivets... that was on an early 22r with the dual row timing chain...

Well, picked up the gasket set today - $78.79 with my AAA discount, and I have to say it's surprisingly good quality, and very complete. Even comes with valve cover grommets and the valve cover gasket.

I have had good luck with Napa (Victor Reinz brand made by Dana) and Fel-Pro gaskets as sold by Checker Auto Parts and similar.

I just did a HG job on a 22R using the NAPA kit. No problems yet.
I've used these gaskets on a lot of different motors over the years and can say nothing but good things about em.

Well, I can tell you that CR seals don't seem to hold up to extreme Arctic temps, so that's why my front/rear seals come out of a rednwhite box.

Otherwise most seem okay from them.

CR = Chicago Rawhide green box.

CR?

This was the Victor Reinz stuff, and I would say it's only a step below OEM quality.

So far she's running like a champ (after she blew about 1.5 gallons of water out the exhaust on initial startup).
