I bought one of these this past October: EXCESS CARGO CARRIER

I used it to haul a d44 from SA to Austin (about 100 miles). Had no problems. I was concerned at first because of the weight. But it worked flawless.

It is regular priced at 59.99 but goes on sale every two months or so for 39.99. I waited for the sale and saved 20.00.

You can buy it and have a local welding shop strengthen it if you want.

That link is preciously what I was talking about. Ther eis no way you could build it for cheaper than that, when you figure in "all" costs. I do weld and do my own fab work and the HF rack is exactly what I'm going to buy. Now, if you want to still have it built for cheap and can make it out to Utah, I work for Beer (micro brew or import-you got to have some standards). And yes I can easily make it as to where you can still get your tailgate open.
