I tried this once and now this is how I do it every time. I have a removable 12v winch that I put inside the truck on the tranny hump and feed the cable through the stick shift hole and around the transmission/transfer. This is very near center of gravity. Then I power out to lower the tranny...and power in to raise tranny back up. My buddy says he does the same thing with a come-along ratcheting hand winch. Ive done this all alone but it is much easier with a friend to help.
