I have colse to 100k miles on Bosh +4 plugs in two different Sportages and have not had a single problem out of them. I think sometimes plugs get blamed for a lot of other problems.

Bosch +4's are known problem in our engines.

Stick with the OE spec plugs, there isn't a lot to be gained from anything more exotic (except "ricer" points...)

Gary,
What problems have you had with Bosch 4's? What problems have others had? When I joined this forum, I had heard only good about this product. I would like to hear the other side to know what to look for if/when they start going bad or problems they cause.
Thanks, Everet

I haven't had any bad problems because I haven't used them.

As a relatively long time member of this forum it is an issue that has popped up every once in a while (2-3 times a year), and I have heard one or two instances on other forums too.

The main issue they come here with is "I've changed my plugs and coils and my car is running like s**t". Almost without fail (~80% of the time???) they have used Bosch +4's. Most of the posters seem to be the "one hit wonders" and are rarely heard of again. Do a search for "bosch" or "+4"

I've ran the stock NGK 5 plugs, the NGK 6 plugs the NGK V powers, Autolite, Bosch Platinum, Bosch Platinum 2, and the Bosh Platinum 4s.

After running about 50% of these plugs I changed to the Bosch Platinum 4s and then ran the other 50% of these plugs. I'm now back to the Platinum 4s and will never buy another type of plug.

The other plugs gave less power, less fuel economy, and more carbon deposits.

Most fuel problems that people think come from bad plugs are actually because they are running crappy gas that has more water in it and are not changing their fuel and air filters frequently enough. Most people also forget to frequently clean their fuel system to remove contaminants in the injectors.

I am certainly no one hit wonder. I for one have shared the very experience of having a problem with Bosch 4's. And I'm pretty familiar with the other problematic nuances of the engine. I go by factual and tangible data such as the computer read out. All I know is this.....Bosch 4's will never be placed in my engine as long as I have a say in it! The positive gainful attribute of having these type of plugs accomplishes little or no betterment for the vehicle anyway. Yes, they cost $4.00 more but so what. I bet that anyone who has these plugs can't really say a whole lot of diferrent from what my vehicle is doing. Now the E3 plugs are a whole special animal. I honestly don't know what these are/do. Some one please explain......

Wasn't having a go at anyone, more a statement of fact... Lots of ppl have come here with a problem, solved the problem, never to be heard of again...
