I don't mean to make light of your circumstances, but it sounds like the shop isn't very professional. I don't remember what size allen wrenches are needed for hub removal, but they are standard metric sizes that come with any good tool set. Your advice to the shop should be for them to go buy the right tool at any auto parts store.

There is a special tool needed for hub nut removal, but many have used a standard 3/4 ton Chevy hub nut socket with all but 2 of the teeth ground off. If they're missing this tool, they should be able to make one quickly using a bench grinder. I think that's the correct Chevy description... someone should verify that, though.

While the hubs/rotors are off and separated is a good time to inspect/replace the needle bearing inside each hub and inspect/replace each hub seal.
