I have a 1987 YJ Wrangler, and have transferred north away from home. Long story short is I don't have my manual with my Jeep, and want to remove the windshield wiper arm and reposition it so that the pass side wiper doesn't hit against the edge of the windshield on its down stroke. Can anyone tell me how to remove the arm so that I can reposition it?
THanks.

If you can't see an obvious lever of some kind, try lifting the arm all the way out (away from the windshield). That should unlock the arm, and you should be able to lift it off. It could be on there pretty tight so try prying with something soft, like the rubber handle of some pliers.
'Course, I'm just guessing. Don't pry too hard!

I'm not familiar with the '87, but I know on my '82 CJ, and just about any other car I've taken a wiper arm off of, you had to grab the wiper arm and push towards the end to take pressure off a spring loaded 'latch' of sorts inside the round connector part of the arm. Usually if you push with the arm while prying up on the opposite edge with a flat blade screwdriver it will come right off.
It's sortof hard to describe, but it's really pretty easy when you do it. Hope that helps, or at least jogs someone else's memory that can describe it better.
