I used a Cooper C7220 which is a pocket thermometer used by A/C folks, it has a 5" stainless steel probe and reads form 0 to 220 deg F. I just stuck the probe in the radiator tank, dissconnected the power to the fan, set the low set point at 160 F and the high set at 200 F. The fan will run at 50% all the time with a warm engine unless the temp goes above 200%. Of corse the fan runs at 100% any time the A/C is on. I did connect the A/C input to the Spal to the + fan connection which is on as long as the A/C is on.

Can you set the SPAL to run @ 185 w/50% and 200 @ 100%. I see no reason for it to kick on below 185f.
