So, At this point, im one happy camper. Found a junkyard about 20 min away that is Toyota Heaven. 22r,22re,3.0's all over this place. I found a Full 22re w/ W56 tranny 4x4 in tact not on single part missing. 200K on the whole shebang (This will be my buildup block/tranny) - Guy wants $500 for Everything. He'll pull it, give me everything from the fan to the tranny tail shaft. Does $500 sound like a good price to you all (seems good to me lol) Also, did any of the 4cylinder 4x4's come with a cluster w/ a tach? All this came out of a 90 Toyota P/U Ext Cab - Gonna plug it in to mine tomorrow and see if everything works on it.
Oy..now what to put into the new block/tranny ha

Heck yeah if he's pulling it. Make sure you get the shifters!! Tach cluster is in SR5's so ask or go look. Get some goodies from Ted www.engnbldr.com

see thats what confused me, It was a 100% Stock untouched 90 pickup, def not an SR5 w/ a I4 lol. I'm gonna plug it into my truck tomorrow and see what happens. Hmm..I'll have to go back for more at this guys place tomorrow then, he has three 3.0's there, 5 22RE's and about 7 22R's if any of you are looking for parts. Lemme know what you want and I can scout around for ya. Many Pickups/4runners/Tacomas/landcruisers there w/ full engines. And Kewl, Yea I think He said anything thats on the engine and tranny, I get for the $500. I may go nab the other 2 4x4 tranny/engine combos then if it's good price lol

Hey! make sure you use the oil sending unit from an SR5 instead of the idiot light sensor, or you will roast the oil gauge. There were some 22re sr5 models, but I don't think they were very common.

Sounds like a good deal, I poid $400 for a used 22r back in September, a good tranny wusually runs another $250. Also, did any of the 4cylinder 4x4's come with a cluster w/ a tach? All this came out of a 90 Toyota P/U Ext Cab - Gonna plug it in to mine tomorrow and see if everything works on it. For the 3rd gen trucks the Tach came with the touring package, which normally included intermittant wipers, floor mats, wing windows, and rear slider. This is what the deluxe trim level trucks have that makes them different than stock. The tach cluster has additional guages in them, and since I haven't come across a standard cab DX, I am not sure if it is a oplug and play swap, or if you have to run some wires to get the tach and aditional guages to work.

mine is 86 xtra cab dlx package without tach & oil pres gage cluster . I tried to swap with sr5 cluster from a 4runner . the plugs are the same but I lack the wires in the plugs for the oil and tach to work. That stinks since I already bought the sr5 cluster .

3rd gen DX trucks came with the tach, I am not sure if that was an option for the 2gn X-cabs.
If you remove both of the consoles and turn them over, you can trace the the electronics on teh back. IIRC, the oil guage from the stock harness has to be removed and put into another slot, which is easy to do. The Tach is also mapped out on the back of the SR5 cluster, you can run a wire from the tach tester under the hood to the cluster, and connect it with stock pins either from teh dealer or the wrecking yard, the yard will be cheaper.

ck, all you have to do is run a wire for your tach and put an oil pressure sending unit in to make all the gauges work. hopefully you didnt start the truck up w/ the original dummy sender in though, if so you prob. fried the oil pressure gauge. stock87 has a very good write up on this.
