Not dragging the threaded ends, bending the open end, scarring the nuts (the u-bolt nuts <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" /> ), a little more ground clearance and not having a rock anchor mounting plate hanging under the axle. Good stuff.

Con? Maybe a little more axle tube is exposed?
