Need a Spot
Does any one know if a 3.2v6/5spd trans would fit in an '88 Trooper replacing a 2.6-4cyl and auto trans? Would the wiring be a nightmare?

Anything is possible, but remember you are putting and engine and trans into a vehicle that had never had that option.

Wiring, drivelines, mounts, plumbing and everything else will be a custom job. There is probably not a single thing that is plug-n-play.

Good Luck,
Michael

Roll Me Over
Actually Jerry was looking not long back at the two and said the motor mounts were almost identicle. There were newer trucks like the Rodeos that could have both. Say the first gen Rodeos they had the 3.2 or the 2.6

Wiring is definately going to be different and you'd need the computer and wiring harness from the 3.2, along with all of the sensors and whatnot. You will be doing custom exhaust and some custom crossmembers.

The tranny is the same MUA-5 as always. Heck, I think Jerry said this has been done, I just can't remember. He'll chime in here in a while I'm sure.

Body Damage is Cool
HEY JOE,, YES THE FRT MOUNTS ON THE V6,S CAN BE ADAPTED TO THE 2.6 FRAME PRETTY EASILY ,, WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO IS USE THE 2.6 OR THE 2.3 CUSHIONS AND THE 3.2 ENG BRACKETS, JUST LOCATE THE THE CUSHIONS ON THE 3.2 ENG BRACKET AND ENLARGE THE UPPER HOLE IN THE BRACKET TO THE SAME SIZE AS THE 2.6 MOUNT STUD, WHICH IS 12 MM ON SOME AND 14MM ON OTHERS AND THEN THE ENG SIT,S IN THE PROPER POSITION, BUT THAT IS WHERE THE FUN ENDS , THE V6 TRANS IS THE SAME LENGTH AS THE 4CYL , THE EASIEST WAY TO DO THIS IS USE THE BELLHOUSING FROM THE V6 TRANS ON THE 4CY TRANS , AND THE DRIVE SHAFTS AND THE REAR MOUNTS SHOULD COME RIGHT INTO PLACE AND YOU SHOULDNT HAVE TO MODIFY THE DRIVE SHAFTS OR THE SHIFTER HANDLES , THE SHIFT ON THE FLY TRANS IS ANOTHER MATTER ALLTOGETHER , BUT IS VERY SIMILIAR, JERRY
