Getting the Wheeling Fever
So I replaced the clutch bracket and it shifts as smooth as butter. Goes into reverse just as easy again.

Now time to tackle the other issues.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well, now I think I found a leak in the head gasket. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Is there any way I can tell for sure if the head gasket is leaking or not? My father who was a mechanic for many years says he thinks he remebers some sort of tool. (and not just a compression test, but that would tell me also whouldnt it??? ) he said something about a tube that would fill up with smoke or something. Anyone have any Ideas.

Do a leakdown test. Your dad should know what that is. Compression test checks the bottom end; the leakdown test checks the top. Also, your other non-invasive test is to get the coolant tested for the presence of exhaust gases.

Yep on the first one; never used the second one; see if your local NAPA carries it, so you can read the instructions to see if that suits your purpose.

You will need to rent or borrow a compressor to do the leakdown if you don't have one.
