Need a Spot
Hello All!

I am new to the T100 but have had 2 Tacomas with the 3.4L in the past. I purchased a one owner 96 4wd with 88K. I need to replace several parts in the near future and would appreciate any advice.

Shocks for sure. Not sure on the torsion bars? Muffler needs to be replaced.
So far this old truck has lived up to it's expectations.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

Body Damage is Cool
Toyota had a long running campain where you could get the exhaust installed for free if you bought the muffler pipe from Toyota. And to my surprise, the OEM system was quite a bit cheaper than the Walker and such from the usual parts stores.

So I saved a lot of money, they did the work, and I got a lifetime warranty. Cool beans!

Congrats on a nice T100... one-owner with 88K is a great find. Welcome to the forum!

Shocks- ANYTHING is better than the stockers that were worn out by 30k. Bilsteins are pretty popular if you want to firm things up. Monroe Sensatrack or Reflex is a good option too if want something softer.

Spend for Bilsteins all around and you probably will not need new torsion bars.

You may want to replace the stock steering damper [shock] as well - NAPA sells a beefed up Monroe unit.

Hope your parking brake cable is in good shape! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

I believe I will go with the Bilsteins. Autozone seems to have a decent price on them? $58.88 ea. for the Rear and $68 ea. for the front. Let me know if there is a better deal elsewhere?

Thanks,
Dave

Congra on the T100. I've been going back and forth between different vehicles, and now am on my 3rd T100 purchased about 6mo ago. Good to see someone from TX. Are you in the DFW area by chance?

No. I am in the Austin area. I don't see many T's around here.

Hi Dave,
I have about 130k miles on my NAPA 'heavy duty, light truck' shocks, still working well. They are a big improvement over stock, but not as nice as the Bilsteins. They were less than $100 for the set of 4, but that was 8 years.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I've got an almost brand new set of bilsteins that will be coming off of my '97 4wd in january. I got a pro comp lift for my t100, and the bilsteins won't fit with a 4" lift. I'll let 'em go for $150.00 shipped if interested. I bought these in may of '06, and have put only about 5k on them. email me back at motodad199@sbcglobal.net if interested. Thanks, dave...
