Where is the idle air control valve? I do not think I have played with that one yet. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I was not sure on the idle screw location, so I didn't try adjusting anything.

That should be the FIRST thing you adjust. Here it is...screwdriver pointing to adjusting screw

Adjusted the idle down, still does not seem right. sometimes it idles at 800rpm & a few blocks later it idles at 1100rpm, but it is a lot better. The idle adjustment screw was very ez to turn I could have turned with my fingernail, is that normal? Thanks for the picture & the help.

Another simple thing to try is cleaning out your throttle body. pop off the intake hose, and spray some carb cleaner onto the butterfly valve and into the throttle body. Clean it up real good with a rag. Your butterfly valve could be sticking open a little.

Oh, I thought there was another adjuster. I've played with that one, just never heard it called that before. Thx.

This happens to me from time to time as well and I just spike the gas and it idles back down to normal. I have not sprung for the new tps yet due to $, but have adjusted it, and the adjustment did not solve the problem. My tps does have about 300,000 miles on it, and I am thinking this is probably the problem. Otherwise, check your throttle cable under the dash and on the end of it, there should be rubber spacers that wear out and could be hindering the proper operation of the throttle cable. I rigged mine to work just fine and if you need more info or pics, I would be happy to e-mail them to you just pm me. I don;t recall if the dashpot was brought up, but the other aforementioned are likely candidates in my experience as well.

I cleaned it again & it seems to be fine now. I'm waiting to see how it works in cold temps. It has not gotten below 25 degrees since I started on this problem. Wait & see I guess. Thanks to everybody for all the help.
