I kind of went through this back when I moved to Alberta - its sort of a vicious circle: in order to register, you have to have a DL from that province. But insurance doesn't care if you have the vehicle reg'ed or not, so I guess you can do it without... but there is a grace period. I moved here in Aug 01 and kept my plates/reg/insurance till December. I think technically I was outside the grace period, but I had a good story ready... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> BUT... to get an inspection, you do have to have an Alberta driver's license. You also have to go to a registry office prior to your inspection to get a "request for OOP inspection". Then you bring this request to the inspection facility, then go back to the registry with your (hoepfully) passed inspection form. Sounds like a bunch of BS, but hey, at least you're getting away from BC's DOT shenanigans, so its not all bad! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
