I know this has been asked many times, I did a searh first, but does anyone sell/make a rear bumper that can hold the spare, hi-lift and such? I know there are fronts made, I dont understand why it would be that more difficult to make one for the rear.

Thanks- Mat

Yeah Hawkdog, can you give us a ballpark for how much it cost? are there different options for it, or pretty much just the way you have it?

call them http://www.kenmtn.com/

but just so you know: they are made vehicle specific with or without tire carrier, hi-lift bracket, jerry can mount, shackle hangers, and CB mount. they are bolt-on and can be made with 3/16" steel or 1/8".

youre looking at about $700 for just the bumper, plus shipping from GA. but call them and talk to Kyle and ask about Andrew's bumper.

Yeah, ryan was right.. TC, jerry can mounts (one or two cans), cb mount, lic plate mount, shackle mounts, d-rings, hi lift mount, The bumper can also hold air, those are most of the options you can get. I got it pretty much fully-loaded. I paid around 760-800. Its a nice bumper, but the paint sucks, so i have rattle canned most of it again.

Body Damage is Cool
EOD30, I see you have a 2nd gen. You'll probably have to get it custom made, preferably by somebody who has built one for the 2nd gen before. Here's my bumper I just made. Hopefully you can get some ideas from the pics.

Here's me testing out the toolbox carrier and hinge:
<img src="http://pics.montypics.com/robinhood150/2003-02-23/levitate.jpg" alt=" - " />

And here's my roommate and I trying to install the bumper for the last time. This part weighs in at about 110 pounds.
<img src="http://pics.montypics.com/robinhood150/2003-02-23/smash.jpg" alt=" - " />

Here's how it looks from underneath. Notice the supports for the side "wings"
<img src="http://pics.montypics.com/robinhood150/2003-02-23/underneath.jpg" alt=" - " />

Here's the finished product with the tire and hi-lift attached:
<img src="http://pics.montypics.com/robinhood150/2003-02-23/tire.jpg" alt=" - " />

And here it is with the toolbox attached:
<img src="http://pics.montypics.com/robinhood150/2003-02-23/tool_box.jpg" alt=" - " />

Summary:
The total weight including the tire carrier is about 130lbs. But, the original hitch weighed 30lbs and the factory bumper weighed 50lbs, so I gained 50 lbs.

I'll run around with the toolbox attached most of the time and if I know I'll be doing some tough trails then I'll put the tire up there instead. Underneath, the tire is vulnerable, but the departure angle is limited by the hitch and not the tire.

The tire carrier is detachable so if I want to throw a couch in the back with the tailgate down, then I can. In addition to the hi-lift and tire/toobox, I can also fit a gas can on the passenger side. One thing I'd do differently is put the CB antenna away from the hilift. At freeway speeds the antenna whips around and hits the hilift, rubbing the wire wrap away.

Total material costs:
Steel: $60
Tool box: $50
Misc parts: $50
