Ya it is deffinately the magnetic pick up type and yes it sits close to the ring gear. I took it back off yesterday and re-seated it and I am near positive that it is in all the way. I sprayed some carb cleaner on a rag and wiped it clean to get all of the shavings off of it the first time and since then it has been acting up. I am going to kick myself if for some rerason the solvent some how absorbed through the encasement and screwed it up. This piece is pricey and I really do not want to have to purchase another one.

Another thing is that the ring gear is a bit chip on its outer most edge in about a 3" area. How this happened I do not know because otherwise everything looks great in there. This is my latest cause but I do not know why it would not give me problems before. I guess that the metal shavings that were there, could have actuall helped it to sense the ring gear moving, and now that it is all clean it is probably reading better, therefore senseing the chipped area. I am going to check all the continuity points today, and see if the sensor is within spec. If it is not, then it would be a funny coincidence that it went out just because, I am more thinking that the carb cleaner soaked rag may have screwed it up. If so I will check back in and this may be something to watch out for, the sensor is around $200.00 and if solvent or rtv screws w/ it, this becomes a pricey user error.
