It would not surprise me that there is more than one harness, I do allot of custom conversion work and routinely need to add circuits to get what I need.

My '92 has one "inner" bulb for the compass, there are "outer" bulbs for the other gauges, maybe that's where some the confusion is coming from. You have to disassembly the unit much more to access the inner bulb that lights up the compass. I have a spare compass bulb at home, still in the Mitsubishi parts bag, I'll get the # and post it for you once I get home. I bought 2 when my bulb went out earlier this year, you never know when a part is going out of production

That sounds like the unit in my 95. From the description above, I think they added another bulb to the later models.
Thanks for the offer for the bulb #.

The compass bulb is # MB898179-I checked with my parts guy at my local dealer that I buy from, as well as the extra bulb I have when I bought 2 bulbs last year, with one as a spare for the compass backlight. Built-in bulb holder, with a green sleeve over the bulb. The bulb/holder is of the "Twist out" style like on many other Montero bulb applications. Hope this helps you out

Mine have been out since I bought it. I figured since it was an LCD display, it did'nt have lights. I'm happy to learn it not only has them, but they can indeed be replaced.
