The province can ask for an inspection - and does. But insurance companies were also asking for "in-house" inspections on older vehicles, or some were asking on ANY vehicle before they would insure it. Now, they still frequently ask, but you can say "No." and they still have to insure you. This has nothing to do with the OOP inspections, which are still mandatory for OOP vehicles.
