Getting the Wheeling Fever

I was a little disappointed in how poorly the Rubicon handled the Denver snow. Got stuck twice, it seems to high center easy. Axle lock just made it worse. Would have been nice to have tire chains but the manual says don't use them. Probably tear up the plastic fender flairs. My old Toyota PU did better in the snow than the Jeep

Jesus dark! I couldn't think of a better snow ride than a rubi.. All I can say is TIRES! I'm sure that living there you do know how to drive in the snow. Do you have them goodyear knobbys on it? Big JIm

i have yet to get stuck in the snow, but yet i dont have a rubi. i wouldnt think locking it up would help in the snow driving on the roads. think 4wh and taking my time would be the best way. hey bj what nobby tires are you talking about? the MTR's cause i would be curious on how they handle the snow. i have a set but have yet to see snow with them.

All of the rubies that I have seen at the dealers had the same goodyear knobbies on them.. if mtr's is what them are then that is what I mean. They look like they would be quite good in the snow. Big Jim

The JK Rubicons I have seen had 32" BFG Muds, it was actually a hight selling point the guy at the dealer tried to sell me on. Even though I wasn't the one there looking for a Jeep, I had given a buddy of mine a ride up there looking for a new vehicle. He saw I had 31's on my Raider and made a point that the Rubicons have 32's yada yada yada.

Yep, got the stock set up plus a few extra skid plates is all. Seems to get high centered easy. Once stuck, locking up the diff's is the wrong thing to do, it'll just dig you down in. We're talking 3 plus foot deep drifts here but full size trucks didn't seem to have any problems where I got stuck.

Get some of the air out of the tires!!
Hard full pressure tires won't float or conform to the road. Whenever I go snow wheeling I drop my tires down to 6 PSI. Whenever it snows out here and I am driving on the road, I run my tires at 14 PSI. As long as you arn't doing 60 miles an hour, all the excess heat the tires generate from being underinflated will be absorbed by the snow.

Oh and all stock TJ's and JK's high centering it is do to the shovel under the fricken thing. I would say if you don't want to lift it do like alot of us get something like a flat belly pan kit and you will not have this problem anymore.
