I've been reading/following this thread because I too am interested in upgrading my GPS. I'd like to get one that has a larger screen and can show the higher res. topo maps as well as give me voice directions, including automatic recalculating them when I miss a turn while driving in the city but perhaps I'll start a separate thread on that since it's not exactly what the OP is looking for.

One note of caution for those considering the Etrex line. I own an Etrex Legend. I've been told that it will only show topo lines if you use the Garmin topo software. When using the National Geographic topo maps of CA, I can confirm that it does not show the topo lines.
