Shipping? not that much, duties and taxes when they cross the boarder? Hella yeah!

Lets see, last year I ordered a $450 USD carb for my MG from Ohio, cost $450 for the carb, $520 CDN $20 for shipping, $20 for insurance. At the boarder I was hit with a 7% GST, 16% import duty, $5 fee for opening the box, $5 fee for verifying the contents of the box, $5 fee for sealing the box, (may be exagurating here a little) and since it came UPS I was hit with a $70 brokarage fee, so my $450 carb cost me $765 CDN

The flares are $40 a pair so $80 a set, call it $100 CDN add shipping $10, no insurance, duties and tax say $30, brokarage fee another $30 and your talking around $180, then you kick your self in the ass when you find out you can get them at a local 4x4 shop for $120

For us folks up here in Alberta, check this out http://www.pacerperformance.com/pages/products.asp?id=2

Then click on 'where to buy' & find http://www.raventruckstuff.com/

I called the shop here in Calgary & eventhough they did'nt have them in stock I was told they could get them pretty quick.

Did they give you a price?

I've had nothing but grief when dealing with Raven, we have 2 shops here in Edmonton, and would rather drive to the staes and buy a set rather than give Raven any money, period!

Hey Hydra, you said you were planning on replacing your front bumper? I had a Jeep Wrangler and bought stuff from Quadratech. The front bumper for a Wrangler could be adapted to a Sportage. It would open up the possibilities since there are more parts avail. for Wranglers. If you do get a new bumper, I'll buy your old one. Some woman stopped short in front of my Sportage and I gave her a "love tap". It pushed my Bull Bar into the bumper and gave it a nice bend. Mine's a teal limited, I wanted to get rid of the gold anyhow.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!

Ive been looking at a tube bumper for a jeep for quite a while now. It looks like only a couple of fabbed brackets and maybe cutting the frame off flush with the current brackets would do it.
But, I'm kinda like Tim "Tool Time" Taylor when it comes to fab work, bloody knuckles and all.

C'mon guys, be creative and do a custom job! Better custom than a rip off from the opposition eh? Some 4" Chrome and a bit o welding? Make a nice bull bar perhaps?
