Due to the similarities between generations of Toyota 4WDs, it makes sense to consolidate the Toyota forums based on the engine/suspension configurations. Therefore, we will be restructuring the forums as follows:

All mini trucks and 4Runners with 20R, 22R, 3VZE V6 with either leaf-spring or torsion bar front suspension will be in the Early Toyota forum.

All Tacomas, 4Runners, and FJ Cruisers with coil-spring front suspensions and 2.7L 4-cylinders, 3.4L V6, 4.0L V6, and V8 4Runners will be in the Tacoma/4Runner/FJ Cruiser Forum.

All full-size Toyota rigs will be in the Full Size forum. This includes T100, Tundra, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, and the Lexus variants (LX and GX).

Archive will remain. We will end up with 4 forums, one of which is the Archive.

Your thoughts are appreciated. After we get some feedback, we'll set a date for implementation.

So early mini trucks 1995 and older will be the Early Toyota forum and 1995.5 and newer will be in the other forum?

How about a 3.0 3VZE forum? j/k

Keep up the good work, nice to have a place to ask questions and get answers. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Yep, we decided the breakdown by engine was the most logical, as it crosses over between trucks/Runners and Tacos/Runners, etc. Was gettin' kind of old to refer the Runner section to the early trucks section for the FSM's we have sticky'd. This is mo' betta. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />

seriously? not a good idea. I predict it's going to fail.

EDIT: I think Joe's original post has the best breakdown possible. And is more consistent with other tried and true forums out there.

Sounds good to me Joe. It may elminate some confusion as to whether a post should be in the Truck or SUV forum.

It'll work.

That's funny to read that, as I was the one who suggested most of it originally, aside from the big T's.

I have found myself in the past year referring esp Runners to the FSM in the early trucks section (22Rx and 3.0) or to the Taco section (2.7 and 3.4) where we have an FSM sticky'd there too. The T100's also shared this engine to some degree, so it depended on the generation and/or mill folks would have trouble with for their posts.

With just acquiring a 99 4R myself, I'm in the Taco section a lot to ask about particular things, or to look at the FSM link.

Izzall good. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />

So where do non-engine related questions go? For people doing engine swaps? For T-100 folks who have 3.0's and 3.4's?

The engine is an attribute of a vehicle... defining the forum based on an attribute, rather than the vehicle itself, especially on an easily and often changed attribute, is going to be ugly.

If someone does a very nice build on an 85 4Runner and it's a well documented and followed thread... it would go in a 22re section, correct? Where does it go when he/she swaps in a 2.7? 3.4? 3.8? 4.0? 4.3? 5.7??? The truck is still an 85 4Runner, but now the thread no longer fits the criteria that you've laid out for where it should go... who moves it?

Basing the forum on the truck, not attributes of the truck, is ultimately what is going to work. Otherwise you'll end up with a mess.

I stand behind Joe's break-down as listed above. Good, healthy organization.

It means I traverse more forums... but that would be the exception rather than the rule. NP.

little_joe & kewlynx are in agreement (Brian seems to think they are saying different things?)- basically the minis will be split between '95 and earlier and '96 and later. If you've built a "mutt," then you get to visit more forums. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Sounds like T100/Tundra may remain separate from TLC's though, according to the thread in T100/Tundra...
