The 2 tubes going into the 1 pipe are longer in the 85 and older rigs, while they come together almost immediately in the 86+ rigs. Not sure why, but give it a try... Pretty sure it's a carb vs. EFI thing. Carbs got the long 4-2-1 downpipe (like mine), EFI got the single collector.
