Exhaust downpipe question? #776099 12/31/06 01:01 AM

Hey everyone, I'm trying to purchase a new downpipe for my 85 pickup, but everything I see is for 86-88, or 89-95 years. I'm guessing that the downpipe for the 86-88 year models will work for my truck, but I wanted to ask you guys first just to be sure. So, does anyone know for sure!?

Thanks for any help!

-Nick

Should be fine; they didn't come out with the 6 banger until 88; hard to mess that up. Just make sure it's not for a 2wd.

There is a minor difference...

The 2 tubes going into the 1 pipe are longer in the 85 and older rigs, while they come together almost immediately in the 86+ rigs. Not sure why, but give it a try...

Pretty sure it's a carb vs. EFI thing. Carbs got the long 4-2-1 downpipe (like mine), EFI got the single collector.

I had an 85 EFI/Auto combo with the longer collector...

Need a Spot
I have a long midpipe off an 82 EFI Celica.I am curious about using it on my 86 4runner. Let us know how it works and if there is any gain.

Ok, this is the one I'm talking about:
Ebay...

Will this work? It says it'll work for an 88 pickup with the 2.4L, and I dont' think there is a difference in manifolds or exhaust routing... or is there!? smile

Oh, by the way, i do have the EFI version, if that makes a difference.

For my 87 4Runner: Toyota lists a different p/n for manual vs automatic. Anyone know the difference there?
