Body Damage is Cool
The Cree is the P1D CE

http://fenix-store.com/index.php?cPath=22_51&osCsid=f4b59950930bc498339865ba0f780fee

You in particular should probably know that Fenix is a chinese manufacturer. I know that's important to you. Anyway, I'd wait several more months before buying a cree light. Since they just came out I'm sure better lights will be out soon. Hmmm...I just scanned CPF and sure enough there's at least one more cree light on the market now. There's a ton of info (and hype) about the crees over on cpf.

As for rechargeables, I'm not up to speed on those, but I do know lots of people over on cpf wouldn't get a light unless it takes rechargeable 123s. Those guys are just as picky about their flashlights as we are about our toyotas. I do know that some LED lights cannot accept certain kinds of rechargeables and some can't take them at all.

If you have to ask about a SAS, you're not ready for it.

So I vote for the mag. It makes a great club.

As for self defense, the idea behind using a high performance small light like a surefire is that you first blind your attacker and then hit him on the head with the bezel of the flashlight. In fact, this flashlight has a crenelated bezel to cause more damage.

Plus, I can take my surefire into a nice restaurant, on an airplane, or just carry it everyday. You can't do that with a big maglight. Obviously, blinding a person doesn't work during the daytime though.

When flashlights are outlawed, only outlaws will have flashlights.

Did I mention you can snap a railroad tie in half with Monkey?

The main problem we have now around here is meth heads show up at shopping big centers. Pepper spray works good, not much you can do to their face that already hasn't been done

I want a surefire with pepper spray!

That "Strike Bezel" is there for weapon mounted applications. AND If you carry a flashlight for defense purposes.... Hmm You MIGHT want to rethink that decision.

The E2E defender is definitely not designed to be used as a weapon light. In fact, according to the website there are currently only two flashlights that are designed for weapon light duty the Scout and the X200. Straight from the surefire website about the E2E defender:

"Extremely compact (shirt pocket size) high-intensity tactical-level incandescent flashlight with enhanced self-defense features, similar to our E2E but with crenellated Strike BezelÖ for personal protection. "

As for carrying it for defense...it's better than nothing. If I fly anywhere, I can't carry a gun or even pepperspray.

Anyway, I was merely pointing out that a small light can be used in self defense just as well as a big flashlight. Usually in these flashlight threads somebody brings up how a maglight can be used as a weapon.

I been in enough fights hitting and getting hit by people with penny rolls to know that it is definitely an easy way to shorten a fight.

I imagine one of these smaller lights in your fist would suffice for such purpose, but if the dude is strapped, he'll be sorry if'n I got Monkey with me.

IÆm sure this varies by state, but technically it would be a ôdangerousö weapon. ôdeadlyö weapons are usually things designed to kill like guns and knives, etc, so things like flashlights require less of a threat to be used to defend oneÆs self than say a gun. If someone had a drunk attacking them, they would have every right to defend themselves with a flashlight that is effectively a metal pipe, assuming the drunk had the ability to cause any of injury if the person didnÆt defend themselves. Of course if the guard just hit someone from behind and wasnÆt defending anyone else that the drunk was attacking, thatÆs a different story.

That does suck.

ItÆs not as affective as at night in an extremely dark place where the attackers eyes are dilated, but even during the day, a really bright light can be effective, even if just to catch them off guard or to make them close their eyes or turn away for a split second, given you the opportunity to do something else.

Flashlights are NOT the best choice for a weapon. I was just sharing a funny story about getting my face smashed by one.

As far as a lawsuit goes. It WAS in California and I could have sued, but I'm not the sue-type. Especially when I had it coming. I was being a little ornery that night. I just went home and set my nose, and chalked it up to a youthful lesson learned.

That post with the actual demo of the standard Mag compared to the newer flashlights has me convinced. I'll be keeping my eye out for one.

Richinroa, What do you mean by "Monkey"?
