Still not getting power from my '89 22RE pickup. The engine seems like the timing is retarded when on hills or under load. New air filter and spark plugs were recenty done. I checked the cat (twice!) which was fine and checked the fuel pressure which was fine. The truck threw a code which indicated the knock sensor.

Replaced it with a used one and still no power. Read some posts here about the unreliability of used knock sensor's
so I purchased a new one. Sensor cable looks OK and reads voltage. Still no power under load with the new sensor.

Toyota recommends a new ECU when the knock sensor is replaced and the problem still exists. I don't really want to spend any $$ on a new ECU if it could be something else. ECU looks fine inside...no meltdowns or burn marks.

Truck idles fine and runs ok on a flat road or down hills. Not a Cal. truck and no mods...

Any thoughts or recommendations? Anyone got a used ECU (non-California)for an '89 pickup they wish to part with?

Thanks.
