I guess I'm sort of the resident expert on Alternator Replacements for the 1996-97 model Rodeo... I'm on my 8th or 9th one (I've honestly lost track).

I just dug-up this old post of mine the other day, for someone else...

In my experience: Glowing 'ABS' + 'Brake' lights = A Bad Ground - or a Loose Battery Terminal.

Also: Glowing 'Brake' + 'Battery' + '4x4' lights = A Bad Alternator.

For the whole story, see if THIS Post helps any.

The reason I've had to replace mine so many times is that a lot of the reman alternators simply stink (as Michael already indicated above). --- In my case, I've lost most of them very shortly after driving through mud - but a couple of them failed without any mud involved, while I was driving on pavement. --- Either way, the 'Battery', 'Brake', and '4WD' lights all lit-up, marking the death of each-and-every-one of them; even when the Volt Meter wasn't indicating a loss of juice (yet).

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that your alternator is toast.

What other models is the alternator the same? Anything with the 3.2 v6 sohc right? Will the trooper v6 alternator fit too?

Stick with the 1996-97 Rodeo/Passport as a source for a used alternator -- The pin count and overall configuration on the pig tail is unique to the Gen 1.5 (Sorry!)

Six Isuzus, so far... still have three of them.
