The 1982-85 S10/S15 DID come with the 2.2 engine in them. I know this motor will fit in a 1991 S15, as I have done it. The one thing I am not sure of is whether the Pup oil pan will fit in the S-series, as there is little room between the front cross member and the pan as it is. Certainly an older S engine will fit a newer (up to 1993 at least) S and bolt right in place, using the diesel motor mounts, which look very similar to the 4 cyl gas mounts.
