I used this tool along with a slide hammer. It took more than a few good hard hits before mine came out. I really can't see the grease thing working on one that took this much force. Not that it doesn't work, but it would take something very close in diameter.

I can't see doing it any other way, seeing as these were rental (no charge) tools from the parts store.

In the second picture there on the left you can see my sad attempt at making a puller that I was trying to tap it out with a hammer. Needless to say it didn't work.
