Body Damage is Cool
When this question comes up I always like to put in my plug for mid-90's Celica seats. I really like mine. And three out of the four mounting points line right up! -- Matt

thats nice <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I actually was wondering if celica seats would work, I used to have a celica and the seats are very nice indeed. thanks for the reply.

Did you change them out from a bench seat too? I would imagine thats why three out of four bolts met up, maybe?

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I am not sure how tall you are but buckets can take out a bit of leg/head room compared to the bench seat. The tranny hump limits how far back and how low buckets can sit. I tried two different kinds (both Corbeaus) and they just took up too much legroom and had my head in the roof. I am just barely comfortable with the stock bench seat all the way back (89 reg cab). I am just going to hang on to it and get it reupholstered.

My '84 had buckets from the factory.

I don't think the Celica seats ride much higher overall (if at all). In fact in one earlier thread someone said that they were too low for his taste. I'm 5'-11" tall and they work great for me. I think my seats are from the Celica ST trim level of a 1993 model. My interior is grey so these grey cloth seats with black trim panels are just right.

When I got the pair I took the covers off of them and swapped the passenger seat foam sections over to the driver's seat and then covered them back up. In cars like the Celica it is a good bet that the passenger seat has many fewer butt miles than the driver's. It felt like a new seat after that. -- Matt

Roll Me Over
Virtually any import bucket seat can be made to fit, the outer two mounts almost always line up. However as mentioned you can lose a lot of leg/head room with buckets. The best seats to look for would be ones from the same era as your rig, then move to the '90's and the '00's. The '00's really reduce headroom. I installed a set of '02 Accord seats in an '87 X-cab and at 6'2" I could barely get in it.

If you you have a standard cab, and are tall, MR2 seats work nicely, they are thin backed/bottomed seats so you don't loose much leg/head room. I installed a set in an '86 std. cab and had no problem getting in and out. Supra seats are also a nice fit, however you may have to raise the rear. I had to raise the rear of the '94 seats about 2.5" in my '91 to bring the bottom of the seats up to oem specs(distance from the top of the cab to the top of the seat).

More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else.

thanks for the replys guys.

i'm at about 6'and still have room to spare in my cab, which is regular, so if it raised me an inch or two i would not mind. maybe it would be a good thing and help keep the sun out of my eyes when i drive home.

thanks
