Between the crazy in-depth knowledge of flashlights, and the gun-porn pictures, I worry about some of you guys. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> Just kidding...one can NEVER have too many guns...or flashlights for that matter. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I have shot a XD .40 a few times. For the price I REALLY liked it.

Why is the ammo hard to find?

I think its a volume thing. Since the middle east openend up milsurp has gone up in price and availability has dropped significantly. This has driven up prices of commercial ammo.

The price of metal in general is also having a major affect. Anything made of metal..and ammo obviously...is going way up in price.

Metal is going up because countries like China are expanding so rapidly, that they are buying up every ounce they can get their hands on. In fact, one of America's largest export products is scrap metal.

Body Damage is Cool
The price for quality NATO surplus 7.62mm x 51 ammo doubled over the past 3 years and then the supply dried up.
This round is very popular in the sand box.
All but two of my military style rifles are chambered for 7.62mm x 51.
It just so happens that two of my rifles are chambered for the ever popular 7.62mm x 39
The price on the super popular AK47 round has really jumped. Supplies had dried up but some is currently available.

The most exspensive 7.62mm x 51 round fired from my MK14 was 180 grain Engel EBR sub-sonic.
It was $2.00 a round when surplus was about .17 cents a round. I think EBR sub-sonic is now $3.00 a round.

Buy it cheap, stack it deep.
