Perhaps I should wire it through the high side of the resistor to lower it enough for the 10 amp fuse to work.

The high side of the resistor should have no resistance. I.e. it should be feeding the fan a full 12v.

I would think it would be better for you to get another resistor and be done with the problem. Any local parts house should be able to get it or you can give www.stcharlesauto.com and get one from Isuzu.

The resistor checks out fine its the switch that is only letting the fan run on low.

Oops, missed that.

Then I modify my suggestion. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Get a new switch. Junkyard or St. Charles are your two options.

I am also not sure how you have it currently wired, but that fan should not be pulling over 10 amps.

I had it wired directly to the blower through the feed from the switch. Only one of them is hot so I ran it straight off that.

Since your last post I ran it through the circuit on the resitor with the least resistance. It is holding the 10 amp fuse fine now.

Thanks

1st gen troopers are very rare in the yards around here, I will go with this set up till one turns up.
